Well extremely proud of every Dynamos player for there efforts today. With our squad very light it was always going to be hard but to come so very close and lose in the manner we did was very hard to take.
Dynamos had the best chance of the opening stages when Blunt was sent scampering away clean through to pick his spot only to rush things and loose Wednesfield off the hook.
Saxton gave Dynamos the lead on 26’ with a thunderous free-kick which left the keeper no chance. (1-0).
Ht and the Dynamos goal had been untroubled with our players competing for everything and Crowther and Vine keeping their main striker very quiet.
The second half saw a tremendous effort from our lads and as we hadn't got the subs to freshen things up the lads just kept on digging in for the team.
Wednesfield were in our half more but again Cowdell was not asked for a single save.
Dynamos on the counter had a couple of good efforts at goal and Smith had a great opportunity in front of goal after a well timed run to get his head to Morrison’s cross.
With just 3’ to go Wednesfield connected well with a corner and after a deflection the ball headed agonisingly into the top of the net. (1-1).
It was a blow to the lads but even worse was to follow. With time almost up and extra-time beckoning Blunt received the ball with his back to the defender who went right through him leaving a nasty looking shin injury and taking him out the game.
All game as soon as a player was down the game was stopped immediately and treatment administered but unbelievably the foul wasn't even given and to support from the sidelines Wednesfield continued to play on and ended up scoring a tap-in with players having been distracted with the injury. If that’s the way teams want to win a kids shield then frankly you can keep it for me.
Time was blown straight from the restart but the result didn't matter by now the Dynamos were the real winners today 100% from every lad who donned the green strip today, restricting a full strength Wednesfield side to very few shots from distance and our lads winning key battles across the field.
