This guide contains everything you need to help create a positive environment where every child can enjoy football. It outlines age‑appropriate formats, match durations, and examples of good practice.

 

Under 7 – Under 11 (Non‑Competitive Football) -  Football in these age groups is classed as non‑competitive, meaning:

•Results are not published

•League tables are not kept

•There are no league winners at the end of the season

•To support this development‑focused approach, please avoid posting scorelines on social media if your child plays in these age groups.

 

Under 12 – Under 18 (Competitive Football) - From Under 12 onwards, football becomes competitive, which means:

•Results are published on league websites

•League standings, winners, promotions and relegations apply at the end of each season
